Navigating societal boundaries within urban landscapes
Rabia Raja is a Southampton-based sculptural artist specialising in industrial materials like concrete and steel. Her practice explores the built environment, hostile design, and brutalist architecture. She symbolically represents the power structures that govern the urban landscape and the overlooked aspects of city infrastructure by delving into the intricacies of everyday life within her sculptures and street photography. Her installations navigate the complexities of social control, compliance, and hostility, evoking a vulnerability to the human body against the harshness of the urban environment.
With a BA degree in Fine Art from Arts University Bournemouth, Rabia is now a resident of the Arches Studios, where she continues to develop her practice.
