View To Somewhere
21 - 23/03/25
Guildhall Square, Southampton
View to Somewhere
At a time of uncertainty and division, View to Somewhere brings together artworks exploring different perspectives and new ways of looking, understanding, and finding connection.
Whether through intimate narratives, social critique, or abstract exploration, each artwork offers a distinct viewpoint and interpretation of the exhibition’s title. Collectively, they remind us that no matter our situation, we can always shift our perception, seek alternative views, and embrace new ways of thinking.
Placed outside their usual context, the shipping containers that house the exhibition provide an apt frame, both for the displayed artworks and the view out onto Southampton. Timed with the arrival of spring, a season of transition and renewal, the exhibition invites us to embrace the unknown with openness and curiosity.

Press Release
27 artists explore the theme of Perspectives in a new exhibition, View to Somewhere.
The third annual exhibition by ZING, a networking group for artists with connections to Southampton, brings art, ideas and the viewing public together in the heart of the city.
The contemporary art exhibition, View to Somewhere, will fill part of the Guildhall Square in Southampton with work by local visual artists between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd March 2025.
In consideration of the ever-increasing uncertainty and division we find ourselves in, ZING artists will apply unique interpretations of the exhibition theme to explore new ways of connecting with and understanding today’s turbulent world.
ZING artists invite visitors to engage with intimate narratives, insightful social critique and abstract explorations to be seen within the work on display, reminding us that no perception or perspective is fixed. The exhibition seeks to offer space for alternative views and new ways of thinking to be formed. Artworks on display will include sculpture, photography, installation, print, mixed media, painting and more. The exhibition is free and open to all to attend.
Placed outside their usual context, the shipping containers that house the exhibition provide an apt frame, both for the displayed artworks and the view out onto Southampton. Timed with the arrival of spring, a season of transition and renewal, the exhibition invites us to embrace the unknown with openness and curiosity.
Join the artists at the launch event on Friday 21st March, 6pm to 8pm or visit the exhibition between 12pm and 4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
ZING artists are extremely grateful to Solent University for allowing access to the exhibition space in Guildhall Square.
